With a quaint Downtown, scenic freshwater lakes, hiking trails through acres of preserves and plenty of antiquing, there is always a reason to celebrate in Mt. Dora.
We ring in the New Year at Sunset Park in Downtown Mt. Dora with festive food, drinks, live entertainment and fireworks over Lake Dora at midnight. January continues with our traditional Highwaymen Art Show and Sale, which also takes place in August; and then a Storytelling Festival with workshops, competitions, a family fun tent and a story cruise on Lake Dora.
In February, the Mt. Dora Art Festival attracts thousands of visitors with over 285 artisans from all over the world.
Enjoy gaming, a silent auction and culinary delights prepared by Mt. Dora’s finest restaurants during Taste in Mt. Dora & Casino Night in March. March is also the month for Mt. Dora’s Annual Sailboat Regatta; and then Earth Day in Donnelly Park with music, exhibits, raffles and fun takes place in April.
There is an old fashioned Freedom on the Waterfront Celebration with live music, kids’ activities and fireworks at dusk on July 3rd and an Independence Day Parade through beautiful Downtown Mt. Dora on the 4th.
October is no slouch either, offering a Bicycle Festival with over 1,000 cyclists of all ages and rides of varying lengths and skill levels; and the Mt. Dora Craft Fair with over 200,000 visitors attracted by 350 of the country’s best crafters.
In November, it’s time to sport your kilt in honor of the Scottish Highland Festival which promises lively Scottish bands and musicians, as well as an exciting array of Highland games at Gilbert Park. Renninger’s Antique Extravaganza, which is held in November and February and is one of the largest gatherings of antique dealers in the South with over 1,500 dealers, is an antique lover’s dream. Then Light Up Mt. Dora with over two million sparkling lights, traditional Christmas songs, dancers and more in anticipation of Santa’s special day.
Speaking of Santa, why not enjoy the Mt. Dora Christmas Walk in December? It’s a family-friendly street party boasting plenty of live music, dancing, shopping and Santa. December in Mt. Dora is also time for Christmas parades by land and sea, the Christmas Tour of Homes and Children’s Christmas in the Park with Snow!
